THE QUESTION

I would ask, “What is humanities greatest need?”  Is it money?  Is it security?  Maybe it’s a successful career.  Or the famed ‘American Dream.'  Whatever your answer might be, we must all come to the realization that men and women across the globe are in search of something.

THE DILEMa

In our pursuit of happiness, we run after temporary pleasures such as money, drugs, and sex; pleasures that will not fill the void for which we ultimately search.  We deprive ourselves of the pleasures for which we were made, the pleasures for which we were created, that is, pleasures in God.  We have all turned aside to our own ways and denied God’s free offer of joy, which in turn has severed our relationship with God.

THE ANSWER

I believe that we can now confidently answer that humanities greatest need is the need for a right relationship with God.  Our ultimate need in life is not more money or fame but to be made right with the holy God of the universe.

THE REMEDY

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ” (Ephesians 2:4-5).  The God of the Bible saw humanities condition and provided a way of escape, that is, through His Son, Jesus Christ.  Christ came to earth over 2,000 years ago to live a life, that we could not live, die a gruesome death, that were not able to die, and be raised to life in order to absorb God's wrath against our sin and make us right with Him.

THE RESPONSE

The Bible says, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).  God holds His hand out to us now, offering forgiveness, redemption, and a right standing with Himself.  We must all turn from our sins, trust that Jesus paid our debt on the cross, and place our faith in Christ.  If we do so, the Bible says, we will be saved.
